Polymer Protective Packaging, Inc. Acquires DBR Industries

Allendale, MI—Polymer Protective Packaging, Inc. (PPP), an ISO 9001:2008 manufacturing facility located in Allendale, MI, has acquired DBR Industries, Chicago, IL, a converter of polyethylene foam and bubble packaging materials.

PPP is a division of Polymer Packaging, Inc., a leading flexible packaging supplier for the food, medical, pharmaceutical, automotive, industrial and other packaging markets nationwide.

“This joining together of two respected companies is a good match that will bring true value to our collective clients,” said Larry Lanham, CEO of Polymer Packaging. “Both companies have similar product offerings in the industrial/food protective packaging space. DBR offers additional manufacturing and distribution capabilities and some newer products that increases our overall product portfolio.”

Alan Jourdan, DBR’s founder, will continue in a sales capacity. Jesse Larabel, president of PPP, will assume direction of operational, financial and manufacturing functions of DBR Industries.

“I look forward to serving the existing DBR customer base,” Larabel said. “Both of our companies share the same values and will continue to put the customer first.”

DBR was launched in 1981 by Jourdan. His first product was a polyethylene foam and bubble wrap protective packaging solution to the furniture industry. From there DBR expanded to other manufacturing, consumer and food industries that needed solutions to protect products while in transit.

While evaluating prospective buyers of his company, Jourdan said he realized it would have to be someone in the packaging industry and more importantly someone that would take care of his employees and customers.

“I met with Jesse Larabel over a year ago, and we immediately hit it off,” Jourdan said. “I knew that PPP had the organization and the people to take my business to another level.”

Jourdan will continue to work at the company to assure a smooth transition, consult with the production team and supervise several key accounts. In addition to his sales responsibilities, Jourdan plans to take an occasional vacation and travel with his wife, Sandy.
